Grateful Mondays

Grateful mondays

The past week has been crazy busy, well for a working mom with three kids busy is an ordinary day.
Sorry for not being able to post the past week, I was away on Monday and Tuesday comes, tried to do a draft but did not finish it and days gone so fast it was already Friday. Hay enough of my excuses. I will have to take more firm measures to make sure I keep my post regular and keep this blog alive.

For the past week I am grateful for

1. The good news at the office when I least expect it.

2. Jessa’s (my eldest) full recovery from German measles

3. Celebrating my Uncle’s 63rd birthday last Feb 28. He had health issues last year and it was indeed something to be grateful that 2015 sees him healthier and going to full recovery.

4. Sunday pinoy breakfast of puto (maya), budbud and ripe mangoes. And being able to enjoy it with my family.

5. Jollibee dinner treat from the hubby last weekend. Because he was too lazy to prepare dinner . 😛

6. Being able to spend a lazy sunday with the hubby and all of my 3 kids. This may be a normal thing but I want to treasure these moments. The youngest is being taken cared of by the lola and lolo during weekdays as me and the hubby has to work and we don’t have any helper so I look forward to weekends when we can be all together in one house doing chores and just enjoying the day.

7. Water service is back! It was an off and on water service in our area from MCWD (Metro Ceby Water District) due to some pipe fixing so we have to resolve to storing water in drums or go to work without shower. So I’m so glad that we got the service back on a regular schedule and the fixing is done.

8. The free hopia from my officemate. It was my first taste of Eng Bee Tin hopia and I wish they will be available in Cebu.  Thanks Yenna!

9. The cheat Fridays with my officemates. Me and my office mates is working on saving, we each have our version of 52 week saving challenge although we try it semi-monthly and a daily version so we bring lunch or buy viand at the nearby street stalls “carienderia” and to give way to our craving we try loosen up on buying something else on fridays be it just another trip to the bit pricy quick stop across the street.

10. My workshift now starts at 6am (Philippine time)! Due to daylight savings change of schedule in our head office (Canada) starting March 8, 2015 so we also have to start our shift an hour earlier. It sounds not so a yay as I have to wake up earlier. But the good side is I also get to go home an hour earlier. So get that butt of mine get up earlier and enjoy a longer day 😉

Grateful Mondays

Mondays is usually my least favorite day of the week. When I was still in school, I hated Mondays since I had to say goodbye to weekends bumming around and had to force myself to go back to school. Now that I am a mother, a wife and a career woman I still hate Mondays. Mondays for me is the day that I have to go back to life`s realities, the day to say goodbye to a very short weekend, saying goodbye to waking up late, to spending the whole day with my beloved family even if that would mean dealing with the never-ending house chores and kids who always find something to quarrel over but I love weekends and I still least like Mondays.

So I decided to do something to make me not hate Mondays that much. Starting today I will dedicate  a post in my blog every monday (this is a promise so long as I am able to write and has the ability to connect to my blog) and call it `Grateful Mondays.`

Grateful mondays

As this is the start of the week I would like to start my week and my day with a grateful heart. I would like to start my monday counting my blessings received for the past week. Here are the 10 things I am being grateful for.

1. My FAMILY. They are my inspiration.

2. My Husband. For the love, the understanding, the misunderstandings that help us be better individuals and a stronger couple at the same time.

3. My kids. My 3 pretty angels for making me feel all sort of things all at the same time. For feeling so much love, feeling in awe, feeling frustrated, feeling exhausted but feeling happy as well. They are my life`s greatest treasures.

4. Good health. I am thankful that my eldest daughter is already recovering from her bout of German measles and getting her appetite back. And that so far (and hope it stays that way) there is no signs that anyone else in the family is getting the measles.

5. For our medical insurance. I am grateful that my company covers the medical insurance for my family. We were able to avail of the pediatrician`s consultation for my daughter without having to pay anything.

6. For instant noodles. Although I don`t think instant noodles is healthy but I am thankful that it is still available as it is the only food that my daughter eat during the past 3 days that she can swallow. Oh measles!

7. For Water. I am grateful that clean water is readily available where I live. It helps a lot in  keeping my daughter hydrated and helped ease out the discomfort of the measles.

8. For my in-laws. For taking care of my younger daughters while the eldest `Ate` has to be isolated while still recovering from the measles so as to lessen the chances that the other kids will get contacted with the virus.

9. For the Chinese New Year Statutory Holiday. I am not Chinese but I am glad for the extra Holiday as the day is designated as a special non working Holiday in my country. Yehey for an extra day off from work and be able to take care of my sick daughter.

10. My WORK / JOB. I am grateful to have a job that help a big chunk on our expenses. And a job scheduled on my ideal work days Mondays to Fridays and weekends off. Yay!

According to that video “the Secret” that I have watched somewhere. “Gratitude is a powerful process for shifting your energy and bringing more of what you want in your life. Be grateful for what you already have and you will attract more good things. “

Happiness need not be expensive

beachbum angels
My 3 lovely angels having fun on the beach sand.
Missing on the picture was the roasted chicken. It got consumed first while the tuna and squid was still grilling 😛

I woke up on an ordinary Sunday morning. The husband ask what we will have for breakfast. I thought of eating mangoes and “budbud” (a native delicacy of sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves) while inhaling the sea breeze. I brought up the idea with the husband and he was up for it. We woke up the kids got clothes and sunblock ready and off we go to the public beach up north in Lilo-an around 30-45mins ride from home.

We bought food from the Lilo-an public market and off we go to the beach. The kids had fun playing in the sand and snorkeling. And my budbud and sweet mangoes craving satisfied plus a sumptuous brunch to add.

We only  paid  400php total to the resort. 100 php for the beach table rent, 35php grilling charge plus some drinks. The food bought from the market puso (hanging rice), roasted chicken, tuna slices and 1 big squid that were grilled at the resort for a small fee, budbud, 1 kilo mangoes and watermelon slices was around 500 php. So we spend less than a thousand. Everyone had a grand time at the beach and the memories we made is priceless.

Take a Leap!

Hi There. I guess this is my first post since I created this blog like half a year ago. It’s kinda hard to start when you don’t know where to start. I have a lot of things in my mind but not sure if I should put everything in writing. So here is some bits and pieces about me.

Why do I start a blog?
Why indeed. Is it because there is a lot of things I want to write but just keep them in my head. I used to keep a diary from highschool days to college days then when I just get married. I am not someone who would like to open myself to another person so I prefer to write my thoughts. I write in my diary back in the old high school diaries to share my crushes, my frustrations or when I need to let out something that I can’t tell anyone. College days are more on my dreams and what’s going on in my life. Early marriage days are on dealings as a new MRS and at times my disappointments and at times I write when me and hubby had a fight and I pour my anger in writing. Then parenthood happen and I have to juggle my time between being a mother, a wife and a career that I lost time to write. And it might be because the little notebook has no more space to write my thoughts and I got lazy to buy a new journal. But whatever happen, I just stopped writing. I always thought of writing when moments come that I’m hit with an inspiration and I want to write but I just thought I’ll do it later. Then later become months and years and now almost a decade.

Its been almost a decade that I am married and am now a mother to three pretty, adorable but at times exasperating and exhilarating kids. I have experienced a lot, mature a ton and learned so much in that 10years span. I still got that inkling to write again. Maybe to put in letters the moments that I want to keep forever that I may relive them again.

Hi there old self and future self. Call me Jez and this blog is the start of my leap to do the things that I dream. I am an engineer by profession but a dreamer and a writer at heart.
So here I am trying to take the leap into writing again. Join me to “make a GO” to new adventures, new learning, new taste and in trying to record these experiences. Welcome to my BLOG!

For this year 2015 I resolve to do a least 1 post per week. I resolve to GO FOR IT!

NOTE: This is my personal blog. I am not a professional writer so I accept that I may not write with a perfect grammar (I hope to improve that in time) but I am starting this blog to be able to go back to my writing passion so bear with me.
